one more october 10th!

may the joyous heaven celebrate the day in its own way!

the heavens are beyond the reaches of these wretched earthlings.

so...,

silent greetings from this desolate earth!

WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Friday, September 19, 2025

may the silence prevail!

Thousands of solemn smiles,
Thousands of balmy gazes,
Thousands of hopeful dreams,
Thousands of unanswered prayers,
Thousands of innocent wishes,
Thousands of unspoken words,
Thousands of curious ideas,
Thousands of unheard hopes...

Lie there along with you,
In front of that temple,

Buried by casteism!
Covered in silence,
Forgotten by the world,
But never by the pilgrim!

Everything seems & sounds completely quiet over there!
&
The world...
moves on with its pompous cacophony!

sooner.... or, later!

oh this guy!!

what is he waiting for?

to let yet another winter pass silently?

for the sun to shine again on his horizons?

oh wait!

i do remember him!

saw him here 23 years ago!

often found him with... someone; guess, a friend!

had seen them singing along at the dawn and dusk!

and now!?

ah, here he is!

not hard to understand!!

heavens are too jealous of earthlings!

rob the purest, sublime peace of earthlings in few moments!

guess, he waits, and waits for another such moment!

sooner or later...

may he find it here again!

here or there...

in each passing day, heavens are drawing closer to him!

may be, he will fly away to the heavens

to tell his story sometime,

sooner or later!

19-septmber-2021

The day strolls and drifts into sleep slowly, unmarked by anything significant.

The monsoonal clouds wept gently sometimes, just like most other days of the season.

Generally, nobody takes a second to gaze upon the weeping clouds, rather the world goes about its business in an extra hurry whenever it rains.

Moments last for a fleeting few minutes. But..., memories stay fresh forever, either too bitter to swallow or too sweet to forget!

Destinations may be out of sight, yet the road... keeps us reminding of the remaining journey....keeps us pushing forward!

Forward, until the destination is reached!

A 19th September is nothing different in faded memories, but....

missing HDMI audio controller in ubuntu based linux derivatives!

after flirting with a number of linux distros, i decided to settle on linux-mint, for the very friendly and beautiful customization it offers. just as with many other distros, mint also came with its own set of troubles, though minor ones!

this time around, i did not want to run away from this. mint was just too good to give up so easily! i dug the net for solutions whenever mint threw a problem at me.

the most prominent and glaring trouble one may face immediately after installing mint is, loss of WIFI signal after few minutes of booting. i think, this is a problem cropping up in all ubuntu derivatives!

linux community out there was so kind to point me out to the solution!

simply editing a wifi related "CONFIGURATION FILE" on the linux-SYSTEM-FILES was a simple solution but was hard to sift through during starting.

default wifi-configuration is set to turn the power off after few minutes of staying active. this shall be disabled by changing the relevant entry from "3" to "2".

this reconfiguration of wifi settings disables the wifi from turning off automatically! (laptops!?) once this is done, wifi signal becomes very stable.

we can also ensure, that the wifi power-management is permanently turned off by using command "iwconfig!" this command would show WIFIpowermanagement is turned OFF!

next problem that i used to encounter was, HDMI audio controller missing and audio becoming total dumb!

ubuntu based distros make use of an audio-server named PulseAudio(PA), which routes alllll audio signals through itself! this PA is a daemon(background service). it acts as a server between device-driver(ALSA) and the audio apps(like, VLC). for example, whenever VLC is opened, PA kicks into action and opens up an audio stream connecting VLC output to the HDMI driver.

whenever PC lost audio, it was necessary to run a command ("pacmd -PulseAudioCoMmanD") to launch the Command-Line-Interface of the PA daemon within the linux-CLI. PA's own command prompt appears on the terminal window. simply "exit" the module to close it. all this "exit" does is, it CLOSES AND KILLS the PA daemon.

within seconds, linux-kernel RELAUNCHES PAdaemon again, sound controller appears back on the audio output interface.

bam! just choose your HDMI audio output and enjoy your music!!

audio and wifi-drop are the two major problems that annoy mint newbies like me. hope this blog entry helps them all!

installing TOR browser on SOLUS linux!

visual appeal of deepinOS has almost no match!

everything was perfect-except installing new softwares! after multiple attempts to get its software-center work, i was defeated!

distrohopped to solusOS!

again... in solus, i had an another, luckily small problem.

installing 'tor browser' was a headache as it was not readily available in SOLUS's software center. a search in its native "software center" took years with no good result.

so, decided to install 'tor' through command line terminal.

 **************

with usual syntax, attempted to install 'tor' straightaway!

sudo eopkg install torbrowser-launcher

**************

but then, it returned with an error!

System error. Program terminated.
(-30973, 'BDB0087 DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery -- BDB0061 PANIC: Invalid argument')

and another, along with the above!

System error. Program terminated.
(-30973, 'BDB0087 DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery -- BDB0060 PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery')

**************

required a course correction!

System error. Program terminated.
(-30973, 'BDB0087 DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery -- BDB0060 PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery')

**************

so i had to 'run database recovery'. how?*

sudo eopkg rdb

**************

this rebuilds the database that is stuck.

once DBRecovery is complete, went for another round of

sudo eopkg install torbrowser-launcher

**************

done! we are good to go!

enjoy onion!😋

செப்டம்பர் 19

every 19th-september is remembered for the bitterest experience it brought with it.

it is unfortunate, that some memories can continue to haunt us all through our lives. years passby; yet those memories stay fresh forever sometimes.

that evening is relived every time on this day of the year. and not just on this one day, but everyday.

we try to reason with those events; try to make the best of the worst; try to cope with it. since, there is no other choice left.

they teach us to make our lives more meaningful; more useful to people around us. family, friends, fellow human beings around look more human and needy.

we try to make our lives more meaningful by caring about the people we come into touch with.💐

another anniversary of that unfortunate event goesby, like every time. world around us knows nothing about it. goes about its business undisturbed. but, we relive that event all alone....silently all alone.... on an anniversary, more poignantly.

lets continue with our daily lives. let those memories grow less painful and more instructive. lets call it a day!

oh....that evening!
🥺

it has been more than 6 months now since i started border-crossing into the world of linux. still, not much progress made.😛

this is the first post, coming straight from linux-environment.😀

i did not INSTALL any linux variant! NOT EVEN ONCE!

THATTTTTT.... is the beauty of linux.💞 it lets us take a trial run of it, WITHOUT INSTALLING ever!

it was linux-in-live mode. downloaded close to 20 linux distros(names given to linux variants😃). ran them all in live-mode loaded from few USB drives of 16/32gb memory space.

this linux-pizza comes with...ubuntu-base and xfce-topping!🍕

running linux in live-mode was a total breeze!

first, downloaded a .ISO of a linux distro. (from here, https://distrowatch.com/)
second, ran rufus to create bootable USB.(here is rufus, https://rufus.ie/ )
third, reboot PC and select that bootable USB from bios-booting-options!

simple!

here are few screenshots of the recently released LINUX-LITE 5.0!

linuxlite comes with a whole bunch of essential softwares that one would need to get going! you get all the basic softwares, starting from VLC, libre office, GIMP for image editing, and the likes. alllll that comes in a single pack!😍

GUI interface is elegant because it is veryyyy simple. justifies, that this distro was designed to encourage hitherto-windows-users get familiar with linux. with windows-7 support is gone since jan of this year, and win8 not much comfortable of win7 users, this linuxlite offers much easier transition into linux.
this looks, feels much more familiar to win 7 than win10 does with win7.😋

beautiful!

Which Linux? Dosas? Pizzas?

as always, i was dabbling with useless things the other day, and i ended up digging linux a bit.

it was all confusing initially... there were so many varieties/flavors/variants of it. not at all connected to software/hardware/networking fields of any kind, i was like a complete stranger to linux. had to read a bit to get comfortable. and here is what i broke it down, so that a boy-in-the-street can easily understand what linux is all about.

so... what is linux?

it is...., something like, a dosa....like a pizza!👀😜
wuoh!!😳 what???😲

this is how i wanna understand linux. :-) there are sooooooooooooo many varieties of them to satisfy almost everyone who wants to taste or eat 'em.

take a look at this pic....

the base can be same, but the toppings are many, and you can choose to mix or miss m/any of them on any serving. depending upon the combinations u make varieties/flavors.

so is it with linux.

like the pizza, linux has a base and a topping. 😁
base of linux is called, DISTRO (distributions)- ubuntu, debian, fedora, openSUSE.
topping of linux is called, DESKTOP ENVIRONMENT- gnome, kde, mate, xfce, cinnamon.

Qimo-OS is a linux-variant that i came across and liked a lot for its looks:)😍

so, what are the base and topping of Qimo💞?😏
BASE- ubuntu DISTRO (xubuntu precisely, xfce+ubuntu)💓
TOPPING - gnome+xfce DESKTOP ENVIRONMENT.💗

there are many varieties of bases as well as toppings, and you can mix them all as you like. hence.....linux comes in soooooooooooooooo many flavors.

ubuntu sub-family is too large, and i liked one of them-QimoOS.

QimoOs was designed a looonnnng ago but the development team had stopped functioning. everything, good/bad, comes with an expiry date.sad. it was soooooo beautiful, elegant, visual appeal is extremely good. it was designed for kids. yes. it is an OS for kids.

take a look at these screenshots.😊 too beautiful.

look at stats.
bad, it is a 32-bit OS, so does not support more than 3.2GB of ram, despite the 8GB ram available.
kernel clearly states, Qimo is from ubuntu family of OSs.

system monitor interface is sooooo beautiful, colorful and vivid😘. at the bottom lies quick-accesses  to favorite apps, on the bottom-panel which can be configured/removed as one likes.😚

playing mp3/mp4/any media file was unsuccessful. it asked for extra plug-ins to install. i tried, but could not succeed eventually.😥

an attempt to update made it clear that this OS is no-longer supported.😔

Qimo has an in-built interface to download apps from ubuntu software center.😣

i tried to get VLC from that software-center but....mhmhm... failed.😏

this part told me that GUI of Qimo is a combo of both GNOME+XFCE desktop environments.😇

attempts to install chrome were not successful either. i was left with only one native browser-firefox.😷

i ran this OS on live-USB, did not install it on HDD. i could not find a way to get a direct access to internal HDD though i could save the screenshots on them through the prompt-window. saving screenshots mounted those drives of HDD but i could not access any of them straight at all.😫

multiple attempts of media plug-ins' installations proved futile.🙀

should i attribute those failures of installation attempts to dead-slow internet connectivity?😐

i was trying to store screenshots on all the partitions of internal HDD, and whenever i stored them on different partition, it mounted itself automatically.

sooo... here was that beautiful OS that i spent a day digging with. :) as they always say about linux, it is a learning experience; one gets to know about computers a little more as we spend more and more time working on linux.

this last pic, is a wallpaper from Qimo site. not from my computer.😊cheers guys:) happy linuxing.
