Again…..whatsapp forward!

This time about the knowledge (!) of indian ancestors!! Here it goes….

ooh man…this guy seems to make really serious claims!

When I received this video as a forward in a whatsapp, I responded with a simple answer. Of course, the group with exemplary herd mentality is certainly not the one with inquisitive minds or knowledgeable people to question the validity of the claims raised by the presenter.

So I responded with a simple analogy which can be easily understood by even weakest(ok...simplest, if not simpletons) minds, to compare and to make sense of those exaggerated claims.

“If I were a good painter, I would paint an image of Buddha holding an iphone.

Now that would be awesome if apple inc., claims it manufactured iphones in BC.600s.

Conversely some people may even make a claim- buddhists used iphones 2000yrs back!! J

(You want to place that iphone in tutankhamun’s tomb, making iphone more than 3500yrs old?!)

Earth is shown GLOBULAR…doubt is, WHEN THAT image was drawn?! Were that drawn 10000yrs ago, sure that is admirable.but if drawn recently…with the recent scientific knowledge, then there’s nothing great abt it.further the speaker’s claim will be negated.”

(It is a different matter; one of my friends even said that it was like throwing pearls in front swines. L he said, I could not turn donkeys into horses by reasoning with them!!!! mhmh...a wise man!)

And recently, almost after a six months’ gap of receiving that video first time, it reached me the second time. This time it was forwarded by a friend who is very very good at technologies. Since he always had acumen about technological advances, it came as a surprise for me when I received the same stupid-video from such a brilliant fellow.

A video with non-sensical, ridiculous claims attributing scientific inventions to religious myths. Thereby attempting to give life to those dead, unbelievable stories….attempting to give some credibility to religious dogmas, claiming all the developments in science had been made a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg back through religious practices.

This time, I thought, I shall give it a bit of attention bringing it to the blog, since this was forwarded by a tech savvy friend. Now I had to add a little more to the above statements…

A beautiful lie!

            A whatsapp forward in the group! it brought in a very beautiful image, and introduced,

“This is the sunset at the North Pole with the moon at its closest point last week. A scene you will probably never get to see in person, so take a moment and enjoy God at work at the North Pole. And, you also see the sun below the moon. An amazing photo and not one easily duplicated. pass it on to others so they can enjoy”.

            Though felt happy looking at the pic, It was a surprise reading at the added comment.

Just surprised, because I had seen this pic years ago. I think, I even kept this as a desktop wallpaper. But this forward claimed it was taken just last week ago. Wow…is this what you call a real déjà vu?!

Well…..not so.

            the MOST convincing and very easy to understand explanation why that pic was a fake was…. The size/distance comparison. Phil plait clearly exposed the fake. It was not intended by the artist- inga Nielsen- to dupe people into believing something that was not real. Rather it was intended to be just creative, dreamy place/planet. So given the name-hideaway, yearning for the perfect beauty and peace it portrayed.

            One very important aspect is how a beautiful lie can be twisted further to prop up a false claim, to suit a very different purpose.

God at work!!

A characteristic weapon of deceptive, scheming minds. And this beautiful lie is readily accepted by gullible minds. All religious myths are exactly of this kind, aimed at deceiving people to believe in something THAT doesnot exist. But THAT’s said to have alllllll the powers; and that it can alleviate alllll the troubles, if worshipped.

This is how it works; rather it’s…actually dishonest men at work ;)

            Now…..i can hear an argument being murmured……., “It’s indeed god at work through that artist”. Yeah…. That’s from a classic liar! ….sorry a classic, religious tongue!! And you may believe it, if you want to fool yourself. No one stops you. You are indeed free to fool yourself, but not others!

               Recently received another whatsapp forward. It talked about body parts transplantation and brain-death. Thought of covering about it a bit.

              

               Trying to be as simple as possible. The picture bellow shows various functional areas of the brain. That is, various parts/areas of the brain perform various different functions, control different parts/limbs of our body.

               Some parts- broca’s area, wernicke’s area- are related to language processing, like understanding meanings of words, producing meaningful words, fluency, being meaningful. Damage to these areas will have negative implications on those skills of human beings.

              

               Front-top portions (just behind the temple of your forehead) perform jobs which are considered higher mental functions. Means, these are the functions that can be performed by only human beings! That is, other functions, like listening, voicing, sensitivity to smell, sensitivity to even earth’s magnetic fields are all possessed by other animals too.

              

               But, thinking, relating causes and effects (establishing causal-effect relationship from observations) are all associated to this frontal lobe area of the brain.

               Like these, various parts of the brain perform various functions. So when, brain gets damaged, depending on the area of damage, a particular function (which that damaged area controls) gets impaired. When the damage is done to more number of areas, losses are also proportionate. Strokes are of that kind too.

               More painfully, when that damage is irreversible/ non-recoverable, it leads to brain-death. That is, those parts that control heart-beat, breathing may be completely intact. So that the patient’s heart beat is good, blood circulation is also good, breathing is normal.

But to call a human a human, he may have to perform the most important task – ability to think independently. If one is unable to think,…..it’s so sad. So, he should not lose that ability to think/analyze, or that part of the brain that gives him that ability. It’s in such cases, doctors may advice euthanasia. Families may give consent for parts transplant.

(Not just that thinking independently, but also has to show other human traits. This is a matter of concern for philosophy or sociology or fields like that.)

               There may be very few doctors, who would not make all attempts to save a patient, in order to extract parts. But may be, only a few. No ruling out the possibility. Others are indeed good and cannot be held responsible for the crimes of other culprits. There is no point in completely losing hope or accusing allllll altogether.

                being an engineer, i may add something like this. in your PC, you got a BIOS, processor, cache memory, ram, hard disk, graphics card, sound processor, USB ports, optical disc drives, key board, mouse, monitor etc. different hardwares dedicated to different functions. and there are drivers that integrate(or bridge) those hardwares with the OS (operating system) through processor and/or motherboard. depending upon which hardware/driver gets damaged, your PC loses certain functionality, starts behaving erratically or gives you sub-par performance.

               or it may happen, a boot sector virus attacks your PC hard disk or a physical blow damages your hard disk permanently and your system never wakes up. goes into a coma. what you do in the first case is, reformatting; and in the second case, buy a new HDD and install it.

                but in human beings that luxury/option of reinstalling OS or installing a new HDD with boot-partition is not possible.

                it may also happen, that your mother board no longer accepts your HDD. then either you can buy a new PC or go for a new assembled PC.

                if you assemble a PC, then transfer alllllllllllll useful parts from old PC to new PC, to take advantage of those healthy parts. body-transplantation is done. only HDD and motherboard lost. allllll other parts are intact and serving.

Oooh…these whatsapp forwards!! Seems non-sense has no limits, and it easily finds its ways into whatsapp. Looks like technology advances a lot and reaches everyone’s hands, but not everyone’s mind. Latest mobiles have reached everyone’s hand, but people seem to rarely upgrade their knowledge of things. Ok.ok….it’s NOT absolutely NECESSARY to know each and everything. It is something immmmpppppossible. Difficulty admitted.

              

            But unbelievable that some forwards are sooooooooooooooo stupid. Those who receive such forwards, blindly further forward it to others without a second thought, without stopping for a moment to analyze/verify the validity/authenticity of those claims.

              

            Recently received a forward that talked about the SOUND of the sun!!! And it went onnnnnnnnnnnnn to add a lottttt (of course, senselessly) about bio-photons in human beings, sacred sound, communication at/above the speed of light….universal consciousness…!!! Shit!

            It’s hidden agenda- to extol a particular religion. (As usual, by fooling people)

             

            As with other myths, that presenters opens his unlimited lies, mixed with pseudo-scientific terms……only to fool the gullible, naïve people into the pool of stupidity, called….. ok, I wont say blatantly, people will protest saying, ‘hurting religious sentiments’.

What did you hear?! sun farting?!?! or....“Sound of aum?!?!?” if your answer is `YES’, then….either you need to go for audiometric tests…..orrrrr…ensure you are not hallucinating.

It is NOT the ACTUAL sound of sun. It's "ARTIFICIAL RENDERING" of the plasma wave whizzing past voyager1. probably frequency & amplitude of that "plasma" wave/cloud particles adopted for that artificially-generated-sound wave. Those plasma waves/clouds were recorded as v1 was entering into interstellar spaces leaving heliosphere.

Scientific terms are grossly distorted to confuse people, to breathe life into moribund stone-age phenomena.....hard-earned advances of modern science exploited to prop up fundamentalism. Presenting those developments as if they were nothing new, but already found in those old religious dogmas.

            Ooh….comeonnn…now I understand, it’s the sound of sun while doing yoga on international yoga day at the behest of PM? Probably, soon, someone may send a forward claiming: even sun obliged the advice of PM and started doing yoga, reciting “aum”.  And that was the sound recorded by nasa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Say so, and there are thousands of fools ready to forward all non-sense.

               Fine. First article on that book deals with that chidhambara ragasiyam. And it goes on to more than 10 or 12 pages to justify its claims it lays down at the outset of the article.

               Now came the interesting part. in response to this post.....

               Group received a couple of messages regarding that.

               One, who forwarded that message, defended saying, “ 75% of chidhambara rahasyam I have read in museum near nataraja idol.”

               (I wonder, Was the secret not just one?! What’s 75% of it, what are the rest 25%?! Oh…come on…..how desperately we attempt to defend a lost case!!!  Again….. whats the guarantee that those messages in museum were NOT written by someone similar to the one who wrote that whatsapp msg too?! What’s the guarantee that those info are genuine/authentic?!!)

               Cool…..there wont be answer to all these simple questions. Further we remained silent, not to take it further.

               Another one, protested, declaring, “ chidhambaram is my birth-place. And I think, the explanation that you gave, is not true. It’s a holy town in saivism, a town of the five-holy-elements. Is it not better to avoid forwarding wrong-messages? pls”

               Here…we had to reason a bit…..

               ‘how can you simply declare a message is WRONG?’

   ‘Why should one readily believe the FIRST forwarded message to be true?’

               ‘if the second message IS wrong, why cannot the first message be wrong too?’

Endless questions like these….to which we may not get answers in a friendly way. Yet considering the polite protest. We had to reply……

1. gratitude, with regards, to you, since you registered your protest politely.

2. forwarded, only what manjai.vasandhan had written in that book. which one to believe? whether to believe the first forward, or the one found in book? all my confusion was about "which one to believe? which is correct?" and it was just a confusion, not my declaration/verdict. that's the reason, i rather questioned, ' which is correct? who knows? '. i didnot give a final verdict that, " only what iiiiiiiiii say is correct".

3. at the dusk, if someone doubts whether what's on the walkway is 'snake or rope', is it not fair that anyone would be very cautious? if someone says it's snake and another says it's just rope.....wont we become confused and doubtful?!  wont we naturally try to know, 'which one is correct?'

4. whoever(even natives of chidhambaram) says whatever....whatever it may be about (holy/temple city)....is it not arriving at the truth the right course?!

5. if actual rope looks like a snake, then it's false positive. if a real snake looks like a rope, then it's false negative. let the NEUTRAL decide which is true/right?

certainly not to argue against the advantages of whatsapp in communication. every whatsapp user would have received some FORWARDED messages at some point of time. many would not bother about checking the validity of the claims those forwarded-messages make. but if you give a little thought about what those messages try to convey....and stop for a moment to cross-check and analyse, you would find many of those forwarded messages stand on the verge of absurdity par excellence.

Winter weather of 2001 was doing justice to the season. Winds were mild, and it felt very fresh & comfortably cold due to frequent rains during the early days of the season. Yet, they were the times that felt lonely, despite having many aimless chats with friends.

Door of pearl-66 was open, but both the windows were kept shut. The rains have made the windowsills hazy. Just close to the walls stood that neem tree. Hidden from general sight by the lush green leaves of that neem tree crown, a couple of droplets rolled slowly down the clouded windowsills. None would have noticed either this…… or….the lonely crow, with its rain-drenched, leaden wings, cawing meaninglessly so out of tune, sitting idly on one of the hidden boughs of that neem tree.

These were certainly completely out of sight from the windows of opal-99, though they were open. Main door was shut tight, rarely seen open. The sight was as if it were not occupied. The northern wall of that room had become so much dampened by the seeping rainwater that the collage, which was hanging on that, had been drenched. A collage…..which seemed fresh, beautiful and lively once…….now seemed old, washed & discolored.

Sometimes those September clouds were so dark and gloomy, threatening to unleash heavy rains and thunder storms. 

it was back then....15 years ago in 2001, on that september-19th.
